Falcon Field has been a part of aviation history since 1941, when it opened as the No. 4 British Flying Training School — training Royal Air Force pilots during World War II. After the war, the City of Mesa took ownership and transformed it into one of the region’s most active general aviation hubs.
Today, Falcon Field sits on 784 acres with two parallel runways and is home to more than 800 based aircraft. It’s one of the busiest general aviation airports in the United States, and it’s where Kodiak Aviation has chosen to base its fleet.
Falcon Field is located approximately 14 miles east of Phoenix Sky Harbor, with convenient access to Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), the 101 Freeway, and Highway 60 (Superstition Freeway). You’re minutes from Scottsdale, Chandler, Tempe, and East Mesa — and the Phoenix metro’s millions of potential students and pilots.
KFFZ sits in Class D airspace beneath Phoenix’s Class Bravo, giving student pilots authentic ATC communication experience from their very first flights. Training here prepares you for real-world flying — not just checkrides.
Falcon Field’s central location in the Phoenix metro puts iconic destinations within easy reach for cross-country training and recreational flying:
With over 300 days of sunshine per year and minimal disruption from weather, the Phoenix area offers one of the best flying climates in the country. Less time grounded means more hours logged.
Packages are ideal for pilots building hours toward ratings or career milestones. All hours are flown in the same aircraft for consistency and familiarity.

Our 2021 Cirrus SR20 G6 (N701YZ) is based right here at KFFZ, ready for student pilots, licensed pilots, and hour-builders. Advanced Garmin avionics, CAPS parachute system, and meticulous maintenance — this is the aircraft you want to train in.
Our on-site Cirrus flight simulator gives you fully loggable training hours at a fraction of the aircraft cost. Practice procedures, rehearse emergencies, and sharpen your instrument skills — any time, regardless of weather.
Whether you need 15 hours or 30+, our block packages are designed for pilots who are serious about building time consistently. Combine aircraft and simulator hours for the most efficient path to your next rating.
When you fly with Kodiak, the experience doesn’t start and end at the cockpit. Our facility at Falcon Field is designed to keep you comfortable, focused, and motivated.
