Renters

Become an approved renter.

A short, straightforward path to flying our Cirrus SR20 G6 on your own schedule. Here's exactly what it takes and how it works.

The process

Four steps to the left seat

Most qualified pilots are checked out and flying within a visit or two. Here's the path from first call to first solo rental.

1 · Reach out

Send your details through our contact form or call (480) 690-0590. Tell us your experience and what you'd like to fly.

2 · Verify & insure

We confirm your certificates and currency, and you put renters insurance in force that meets our minimums (details below).

3 · Checkout

Complete a minimum of five hours in type and a checkout flight in N701YZ so we know you and the airplane are a confident match.

4 · Book & fly

You're issued a personal hangar door code and access to our Flight Schedule Pro booking system — then fly 24/7 on your schedule.

What you'll need

Renter requirements

Clear, consistent standards so every pilot meets the same confident baseline.

Certificates & medical

A valid FAA pilot certificate appropriate to the operation, plus a current medical (or BasicMed where applicable). Student pilots may rent to train with the proper endorsements from an approved instructor.

Currency

A current flight review and the recency-of-experience required by the FARs. If you're out of currency, we'll help arrange a check with an approved instructor first.

Time in type & checkout

A minimum of five (5) hours in type and a checkout flight in N701YZ before you act as pilot in command on a solo rental.

Renters insurance

Non-owned aircraft (renters) insurance is mandatory and must be in force before you fly. See the minimum coverages below.

Insurance minimums

Required renters insurance coverage

Your policy must be in force before flight and meet at least the following minimums:

  • Bodily injury & property damage liability, excluding loss of use: $250,000 per occurrence, with a $25,000 sublimit per passenger
  • Medical payments: $1,000
  • Aircraft physical damage (hull), including loss of use: $50,000

Provide current proof of coverage before your checkout and keep it valid for any rental. You're responsible for any loss, deductible, or damage not covered by your policy. Full terms are in our Terms & Conditions.

Please note

We rent aircraft. We're not a flight school.

Kodiak Aviation provides aircraft rental and simulator access — we don't employ instructors or run a training program. Qualified pilots rent and fly solo, student pilots are welcome to rent and train with an approved instructor, and you're free to bring your own instructor as long as they meet our insurance requirements. Browse our approved instructors or have yours reach out to get set up.
